EMPOWERED TO LEAD: INVESTITURE CEREMONY
“You are never too small to make a difference.”
On this note, Vagdevi Vilas School, Varthur witnessed a ceremonial investiture ceremony to hand over duties and obligations to the newly elected students council, house mistresses and co- mistresses on 12th of July, 2024.
Investiture Ceremony is a momentous occasion when the school entrusts faith, hope and responsibility with the newly appointed school cabinet. The council, chosen through fair election process pledged to work collaboratively to create a supportive and engaging school environment.
The school band organized an honourable welcome for the principal visitor, Sri. K. Harish sir, a former ISRO scientist and the school’s chairman, followed by flag hoisting. The ceremony was presided over by Chairman Sir. K. Harish, Principal Smt. K. Leela Padma, Vice Principal Sri Sanjeev Kumar, Academic Advisor Smt. Poorna, Academic Coordinators, and Teachers. The gathering started with a beautiful and lyrical invocation song followed by welcome address by coordinator Smt. Chaitanya R.
Sri. K. Harish, the Chairman, recognized the school leaders and house leaders by bestowing upon them with badges. An oath administration was conducted by the school’s head by Chi. Sam Thomas John. Taking the oath of responsibility and secrecy, the students promised to protect the school’s dignity and tradition, which was followed by the revelation of the unique and creative logos by the respective house mistress and co- mistress. They further went on to explain the goals represented by each house: Keerthi (Red), Shakthi (Blue), Shanthi (Green) and Bhakthi (Yellow).
The head boy Chi. Sam Thomas John in his address pledged to uphold the traditional values of the institution and assured to lead with zeal and enthusiasm to reach new heights. He expressed his gratitude and promised to exceed expectations. The head girl Kum. Radhika Thakur, made an impression by quoting ‘Leadership is not about being in charge. It is about taking care of those in your charge’. She promised to lead by example with dedication and commitment. They showed their gratitude for the honour and privilege of being conferred upon with the prestigious titles.
The event began with a stirring demonstration of discipline and unity: a march past by the various student contingents. They exhibited a sense of pride and purpose wearing their house colour uniforms and holding the respective flags. The march past was accompanied by a loud rhythmic beat of drums and synchronized footwork. The chairman addressed the students with an informative and encouraging discourse, highlighting the importance of self- discipline, hard work and being responsible for their own lives. The event concluded with a note of gratitude delivered by coordinator Smt. Mamta Srivastava.
