WATER is the elixir of life and an essential component of organic matter in this cosmos. Water being so important, it is our duty to conserve this natural resource to avoid many problems in the future.

We at Vagdevi Vilas School, Varthur, intend to imbibe in our students, this great value of respecting our environment and conserving its elements for the future generations.

‘Vagdevi Rain Water Harvesting Park’ has provisions for water collection , water percolation, water storage,etc., which are instated to demonstrate ‘Roof Water Harvesting’. The rain water harvesting tank has the dimensions 40 ft by 20 ft. It is about 12 ft deep and has a huge storage capacity of 3, 00,000 litres of water.

The rain water is directed towards this huge tank from all parts of the campus through proper channels. The process of intense filtration of the flowing rain water before it gets collected in the storage tank, ensures that the contaminants are removed.  The rain water thus collected is used for cleaning the vehicles, wash rooms,gardening etc.

 A rain gauge is installed in this water park, which gives our students a chance to understand weather. Every day, readings are taken at a designated time. These readings are recorded in a log book and monthly graph is plotted so that children can do a comparative study of rainfall.
